The Animal Genetics Program drives scientific innovation to enable sustainable and resilient livestock breeding across diverse agricultural species. Our focus is on climate resilience and mitigation, animal welfare, productivity, product quality, and environmental services. By integrating genomics and phenomics through advanced modelling, we uncover genetic relationships among key traits and develop practical tools for breeding programs. We support a wide range of production systems—from organic farming to addressing the unique challenges of livestock in the Global South. Our goal is to secure a reliable supply of safe, nutritious animal-based foods for future generations, fostering a sustainable, resilient, and equitable global agricultural landscape.
