Four different origins can be traced in the breed Danish Landrace Chicken. At present, no publicly available reference data set exists for chicken breeds. It is therefore not possible to determine whether the four origins in the present population of Dansk Landhøne represent genetics originally present in Danish Landrace Chicken, or whether they represent gene flow from other breeds. In the absence of a suitable reference data set, this question can only be answered by means of genetic studies of potential donor breeds, which we will examine using genomics tools.
