Plants

This team focuses on projects and problems related to crop production in Denmark and abroad. Plant breeding is typically carried out in specialized companies and the team attempts to collaborate with all major Danish plant breeding companies. Plant breeding gives access to biological material with varying genetic makeup in terms of ploidy and size of genome. Additionally, technologies such as cloning, production of double haploids, and male sterility systems are in many cases possible together with a variety of sexual reproduction systems in terms of self-pollination or outbreeding.  All these aspects give rise to new genetic challenges that must also be met in the age of genomics.

The team discusses current problems and projects related to plant breeding and genetics. We will discuss current projects and will investigate possibilities for new projects in the area.

We are currently involved in projects related to perennial rye grass, wheat, barley, faba beans, and clover.

The team has informal meetings focusing on current/future problems and discussions on problems encountered by team members in current work.
