COBB II - Optimizing Genomic Selection in Broilers

  • Funded by: Cobb Vantress Inc., Arkansas, USA
  • AU Head of project: Professor Just Jensen, Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics
  • Business partner: Cobb Vantress Inc., Arkansas, USA (http://www.cobb-vantress.com/ )
  • Project period: 2017 – 2018
  • Grant: 344.000 €

Project description: The project consists of three different sub-projects:

Project 1 is an estimation of genetic correlations of different traits between bio secure and commercial test environments, from which the results can be used to optimize the breeding program for broiler lines using phenotypic testing in both bio secure and commercial test environments.

Project 2 is the development of multi-trait genomic feature models based on identifying the most informative SNPs or genome regions in broilers.

Project 3 is the development of a better genetic evaluation model to account for maternal effects in broilers.
